Grow Your Network, Grow Your Business But Only With The Help Of Outsourcing
Since moving to Calgary in 2013, one thing became blatantly apparent to me - Calgarians love to help each other’s businesses out. Such a solid community that really stands out in the pursuit of success through the successes of others. It was obvious that I needed to get myself out there and become known within the community of entrepreneurs.
As you start out get yourself out for as many meals and events as you can. Breakfasts with networking groups, lunches with industry giants and evening wine and cheese events hosted by respectable people around town. It sounds a lot, and it is, but your face will start to be recognized and you will start to become a ‘go to’ person for your area of expertise. Sounds easy right? Well it takes a long time and some keen perseverance but it will be worth it in the end I can guarantee that.
How do I get the time to do all this everyone asks themselves? Well you outsource the duties that are keeping you from attending loads of events. Don’t be bogged down in things because you don’t want to spend your dollars, you are losing more dollars by not going to these things regularly. Keep on turning up and the outsourcing will pay for itself pretty fast.
Networking can be daunting and sometimes outright scary for some people and comfort zones are certainly pushed to the limits. But without my networking efforts I wouldn’t have moved from a start-up company to a viable business sought after by investors and clients. I wouldn’t even start a business now without putting aside the time and money to get myself out in front of as many people as possible.
